What is Schatzie Reading?

These are some books I’m lost in; books that let me forget that silly pandemic so I can focus on important things, like racing donkeys, scheming lawyers, and — uh — pandemics?

Schatzie Recommends

Running with Sherman

Chris thought fostering a sick and abused donkey would be easy. But when he arrived, Sherman could barely move, and his hair was coming out in clumps. It turns out the best way to soothe a donkey is to give it a job. But racing? Burro racing? And the World Championship, in Colorado?

The Substitution Order

A wickedly clever, tenderhearted, and intricately plotted novel about a hard-luck lawyer's refusal to concede defeat, even as fate, the court system, and a gang of untouchable con artists conspire against him.

Odd Billy Todd

Billy Todd was always a bit different. Considered slow by many, his parents ensured that he was capable of taking care of himself. But they never considered that Billy would be left virtually alone by a pandemic that killed the majority of the world's population.

Clark & Vivian G.

The library can be home to all sorts of unexpected pleasures. Viv and I met in the reference room and danced our way right through the fiction collection. We both collect rocks so we're working our way through geology. Eventually, we may find ourselves in the romance section.

Rhett & Scarlett B.

We're an upscale and fun-loving couple but sometimes we need to wind down. We can read a newspaper or browse through some of our favorite magazines. At the same time, we stay in touch with friends and work by taking advantage of the library's free Wi-fi. What a deal!

Rock & Doris H.

We lived in a dead zone west of Whitefield. Forget cell phone service, we didn't even have a private land line. Our neighborhood was served by party lines. And Doris kept the line humming by chatting with her friends. When we met at the library, completely by chance. it was nothing less than a revelation.

Bill & Melinda G.

The materials and resources at the library get a real workout when we do research on the people and organizations to target for our next billion-dollar grant. The librarians are always friendly and helpful and seem to know a great deal about everything. It's a really cool place.
